Top bodybuilding and powerlifting
event scheduled for Rochester

On June 9 many of the country's finest bodybuilders will travel to Rochester to participate in the 53rd Annual NPC Rochester Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. This competition is the oldest continuously held bodybuilding competition in the United States.

Featured will be guest appearances by Rochester's George Farah and Bob Cicherillo, two of the area's home grown professional bodybuilders. Farah is a fitness trainer who still makes his home in Rochester, while Cicherillo is based in California, where he works as an actor and radio personality. Guest posing will be Johnny Jackson, representing American Media and Muscle and Fitness and Flex magazines. He is a top IFBB Pro Bodybuilder and is widely considered the world's strongest bodybuilder. A former power lifter, he will inaugurate the first annual Frank Siracuse Memorial Bench Press Competition. The competition allows lifters of all ages and weights to compete against each other in a body weight lift for reps similar to what is done in NFL training camps. The competition is named after Frank Siracuse, a Rochester power lifter who was a nationally ranked competitor before he died in 1979.
