Arc of Orleans bringing 'J-Mac' to fundraiser

Jason McElwain, the young Greece high schooler with autism who has become a nationwide sensation by shattering basketball records with 20 winning points in four minutes in February 2006, will be making an appearance at an Arc of Orleans fundraiser.

Arc of Orleans, an award-winning agency which serves more than 600 people with disabilities, has booked J-Mac as the featured guest of the sixth annual Signature Series Banquet and Gala for next September 7 at Holiday Inn, Batavia.

Donald G. Colquhoun, executive director of Arc, wrote in a press release, "We were stunned and delighted when Jason agreed to be our feature guest and this seems to be just the beginning of fame for a young man who showed everyone how to play the game he loves."

McElwain's appearance will provide the sixth major gala and fund-raiser for the Legacy of Love Endowment of the Arc of Orleans. This fund was created in 1999 to ensure that the Arc's lifetime commitment to men, women and children with disabilities is sustained over future generations.

Ticket sales will begin at the Arc office, Caroline Street, Albion, phone 585-589-5516 (extension 228) for information.
