Blue Devils move on to semi's

Brockport overcame a 4-3 deficit with a run in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to defeat Webster Thomas 6-3 and advance to the Class AA baseball semi-finals.

The Blue Devils, seeded fourth, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Kane Share and Jacob Privitera both reached on walks and Share came around to score on an error allowing Exan Wexler to reach base. Center fielder Mike Scheer then laced an RBI single to left driving in Privitera.

The Titans scored a run in their half of the second inning on a two-out triple that came in to score when the ensuing cutoff throw missed the mark. They took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning again with two-outs on a single to center with the bases loaded.

Brockport came right back in the fifth on a two-out triple to right by Scheer and, after Bobby Frisch was hit by a pitch, Drew Brannan stroked an RBI single down the left field line to tie the game 3-3.

The Blue Devils took the lead for good with three runs in the sixth on Scheer and Frisch RBI singles.

Senior Joe Jenkins started the game for Brockport and Brannan came on in the sixth to pick up the victory in relief.

Brockport advanced to the Class AA semi-finals against top-seeded Greece Athena at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia, where their season ended with an 11-2 loss.
