Giruzzi in as Hilton A.D.

Michael Giruzzi will begin his term as the new Director of Athletics at Hilton High School on June 4 replacing Denney Wilcox, who held the position since 2000 and retired this past winter, along with interim Director Dennis Fries.

"As a coach and administrator, I've always had a lot of respect for Hilton's program looking in from the outside. I always thought it was the type of place I wanted to be, so when the opportunity opened up, it was a no-brainer. I always envisioned myself in a position like this."

Previously, Giruzzi spent four years as Athletic Director with Greece Arcadia Middle and High School and three years at Greece Odyssey. The Utica native graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1991 as an undergraduate and in 1999 with his master's degree - both in physical education

"I want Hilton to have success and what I mean by that is to have the highest number of students between grades seven and twelve having the opportunity to compete in the manner they deserve. That also means giving them the facilities and means necessary to compete - nice fields, quality uniforms, etc.

"I'm looking forward to getting in there and getting acclimated with the coaches, the students and the community and learn where we are," said Giruzzi.

Hilton offers athletic participation on 11 boys, eight girls and four co-ed varsity level athletic teams.
