Holley Fair offered healthy fun

Community members who attended the Holley School District Community Health Fair learned what it takes to lead a healthy lifestyle. The district's Health and Wellness Committee, which organized the event, made sure participants could take advantage of a wealth of information on fitness, diet, dental health, mental health, emergency medical services, alcoholism and substance abuse and teen health issues. Participants came away with useful information and plenty of samples and giveaways.

In a parent-only session conducted by Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (GCASA), parents learned about the terminology now being used to describe various types of drug abuse and what some of the containers used to conceal drugs look like. "Parents have to stay one step ahead and because you're taking the time tonight, your kids will be better for it," said Sherri Bensley, prevention educator.

The Health Fair received community support with donations of time, information and products from Anthony J. Piedimonte, Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, Daniel W. Schiavone, DDS, Heath and Martin Attorneys at Law, The Holley Teachers' Association, Hair Affair, James Kirby Farm, School Pictures, Inc., Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Homes, The Whole Approach - Lisa's Dance Boutique, Wegmans Food Markets, GCASA and YMCA of Greater Rochester.
