AREA

•Vath, Joseph, of Rochester, June 17, 2007 at age 67. Survived by his children, Christopher Vath, Theresa (Eric) Vath Gertin; grandchildren, Forrest, Johanna and Jillian; brother, Faustin (Wanda) Vath. Joe was a former member of the Ferris Goodridge American Legion Post #330.

A Funeral Mass was said June 20 at St. John's Church, Spencerport. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.


BERGEN

•Swarts, Nelson, of Georgetown, Texas died June 15, 2007, from complications related to Amyotrophic Lateral Scierosis, (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Nelson recently celebrated his 80th birthday. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps until the end of World War II, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following the war, Nelson returned to western New York, attending Niagara University and in 1949, marrying Lorraine E. Miles. In 1952, Nelson and Lorraine moved to Bergen, where they raised their children: Daryl, Debra, and Darlene. Nelson became employed by Delco Products, a division of General Motors, where he enjoyed a career of 30 years. While in Bergen, Nelson became active in Hesperus Masonic Lodge. He served as Master of the lodge and became a 32nd degree Mason. Along with his wife, he also became active in Eastern Star where they served together as Matron and Patron. In 1973, Nelson became Grand Patron of the state of New York. Upon retirement, Nelson and Lorraine moved to the Pinehurst, North Carolina area. In recent years, Nelson and Lorraine desired to live closer to their children, moving first to Salina, Kansas and later to Sun City, in Georgetown, Texas. Nelson loved music and singing all of his life. He also sang at many weddings and funerals and also loved to perform in local musical productions. Nelson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine; his son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Kathryn Swarts of Austin, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Robert Korbelik of Denver, Colorado; his daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Donald Timbie of Titusville, New Jersey and his grandchildren Evan and Megan Timbie; Douglas, Kyle and Kaitlin Swarts; Jason and Brian Korbelik. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Carol Swarts of Pantego, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Jay Hubble of Largo, Florida and a sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Ed Crane of Melbourne, Florida.

A Memorial Service was held June 19 in Georgetown, Texas. Contributions can be made to the ALS Association, Development Department, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, California 91301 in his memory.


BROCKPORT

•Leonard, Eunice M., June 10, 2007. Predeceased by her husband, William M. Leonard. Survived by her children, Joan Furry, Michael (Geri) Leonard, Kathleen (Kevin) Corser, John (Jen) Leonard and Timothy (Kristin) Leonard; brothers Vern (Fay) and Wayne (Eileen) English; nine grandchildren.

•Montanaro, Peter A., June 18, 2007. Predeceased by his parents, Victoria and Gennaro. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; sons and daughters, Jerry (Rosa) Montanaro, Peter J. Montanaro of Ohio, Keith (Donielle) Wilde of North Carolina, Emily (Eric) Miller, Amber (fiancé, Ryan Orton) Wilde of Colorado; grandchildren, David D. Montanaro; Rozetta and Regis; Fiona, Farrah, Autumn and Gabriel Wilde; Hannah and Sarah Miller; sister and brother, Nancy Vito, Raymond Montanaro; mother-in-law, Phyllis Catlin; aunts, an uncle, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Peter was a Korean War Veteran and retiree of Nabisco Brands (1951-1995).

•Schwan, Francis J. "Big Frank," June 7, 2007, at age 88. Francis is predeceased by his wife, Sally Schwan of 50 years; sons, Frank Schwan and Mike Spry; daughter, Beverly Flemming; grandson, Bobby Weaver; great-granddaughter, Sadie Kent; brother; Paul Schwan; sister, Bernadette O'May. He is survived by his children, Fran (Jim) Kent, Paula (Emil) Weaver, Jennifer (Dave) Allchin, Jamey (Jacquie) Schwan, Jacqueline Spry, Gary Spry, Bill Spry and June (Steve) Thayer; brother, Jacob Schwan; grandchildren, Connie, Steven, Julie, Amy, Sara, Scott, Skip, Melissa, Tina, Chrissy, Billy Jo, Lacie, Dakota, Dave Jr., Heather, Hannah and Michelle; great grandchildren, Griffin, Siera, James, Seth, Jake, Matthew, Amanda, Christopher, Brandon, Evan, Maya, Quinn, Bucky, Brianna, Kayla, Damian and Tristan. He served in the U.S. Army, is a Veteran of World War II and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps before entering the U.S. Army. Francis was a member of American Legion Post #1183, the Brockport Conservation Club and is a Bronze Star Recipient for "Bravery Above and Beyond."

A Celebration of his Life was held June 23 at the Brockport Conservation Club. Contributions can be made to the NYS Veterans Home, 220 Richmond Avenue, Batavia 14020 in his memory.


CHURCHVILLE

•Berthold, Betty J., June 16, 2007 at age 72. Predeceased by her husband William H. Berthold. She is survived by her daughters, Joan and Jean, and other family and friends. Betty retired from Churchville-Chili Central School District after 25 years as a School Bus Driver.

A Graveside Service was held June 19 at Creekside Cemetery, Churchville. Contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association in her memory.


•Gaylord, Cleona L., June 19, 2007 at age 93. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford "Tip" Gaylord. She is survived by her daughters Gloria (Ken) Fossler of Austin, Texas and Sandra (Al) Cullen of Churchville; her grandchildren Jason and Jessica Eckstrom, Todd (Kelly) Cullen and Scott (Theresa) Cullen; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

•Wiler, Shad P., Suddenly, June 19, 2007. Age 23. •Chrysler, Barbara A., June 7, 2007. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Chrysler. She is survived by her children Edward and Debbie Chrysler, Joanne and Glenn MacIntyre; granddaughter Kaitlyn Chrysler; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

•Rose, Jessie D., June 8, 2007, at age 93. Jessie is survived by her husband, Charles (Bud); sons, Gary (Barbara) Richard (Donna) and Dennis (Carole); six grandchildren, Allison, Aaron, Jennifer, Janis, Julie and Tom, and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother, George Daily of Lynwood, Washington and sister, Elsie Vandermark of Gerry, New York. A life-long resident of North Chili, Jessie was an active mem-ber of Pearce Memorial FM Church and a strong sup-porter of Roberts Wesleyan College.

•Gentile, Fred S., June 18, 2007, at age 77. Predeceased by his father and mother, John and Anna Gentile; sister, Jennie DiNardo. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie (Dolce) Gentile; adoring children, Karen (Phil) Davola, Lisa and John Gentile; granddaughters, Christina and Alana Davola, Gianna Gentile; sister, Vivian LoBello; sister-in-law, Cathy (Tom) Giaimo; nephew and nieces, Frank (Grace) DiNardo, Michele (John) Caceci, Joan (Mark) Perrone, Nettie (Mike) Tyson, Jeannine (Jim) Mirabella, Nancy (Paul) Alto; several great-nieces and great nephews and many dear friends. Mr. Gentile was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a retiree of the US Postal Service.

•Baxter, Robert M., Monday, June 4, 2007, at age 86. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen M. Baxter; his children, Gary (Donna) Baxter, Nancy (Marc) Berry and June Collins; brothers, Carl (Nancy) Baxter, Alfred (Charlotte) Baxter; sister-in-law, Dorothy Baxter; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Co., member of Hilton Clio Masonic Lodge, The Eastern Star Chapter of Hilton, NY and American Legion Sheret Post #35 of Albion, NY. During WWII, Bob was an AAF radio operator on many flights in the China Burma India Theater.

A Memorial Service was held June 17 at Greece United Methodist Church, Rochester. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.


•Crookes, Edith M., Predeceased by her son Thomas A. Crookes. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Thomas L. Crookes; her daughter Catherine Loiacono and her partner John Wadsworth; grandchildren, Sarah (Harish) Nataraj, Kristen Crookes, Colleen (Travis) Beagley, Kelly Crookes; daughter-in-law, Linda Crookes; sisters, Ruth (Thomas) Zoebelein and Patricia (Charles) Brady; many nieces and nephews.

•Fetter, Douglas V., June 16, 2007, at age 79. He was predeceased by his wife Ann Fetter. He is survived by his stepson, Rodney (Joelle) Bettner; his step-daughter, Kim Bettner; grandchildren, Luke and Lauren Bettner; his brother, H. Sedgewick (Ruth) Fetter of Florida; nieces and nephews, Linda (Dick) Daly, Susan (Douglas) Brown, Nancy (Steve) Barton and Douglas H. Fetter; his dear friend, Betty Fetter. Doug was a former owner of Austin & Fosmire Insurance Agency.

•Habbersett, John I., June 14, 2007, age 70. John was predeceased by his parents and sister. Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 41 years, Suella "Sue" Chinn Habbersett; brother, William (Edith) of Vero Beach, Florida; brother-in-law, Paul (Gina) Fowler of Mesa, Arizona; niece, nephew and his cat, Fiona. John was a member of the American Wine Society and the choir at Elmgrove United Methodist Church and was retired from Caldwell Manufacturing.
