"Brigadoon" is Port of Call's summer musical

The Port of Call Community Players performs its 2007 Summer Musical production of "Brigadoon," bringing together cast and crew of 150, ranging in age from 7 to 70, in July.

Director John Goehle has a special fondness for this musical going back to his early theatre days in high school when, as a senior, he served as stage manager for the 1978 Brockport High School production of "Brigadoon." Back then, his father, Ron, helped with the set, and his mother, Betty, helped backstage during performances.

Now, a few years later, as he prepares his cast of 65, his father has designed the set, his mother is the stage manager, his daughter, Jenna, is an assistant director and his daughters, Elyse and Kristen, are singing in the show. It is a family affair within the larger family of this community theatre troupe as they mount their third summer production.

The production team also includes Vocal Director Ann Murphy, Choreographer Robin Wunsch, and Orchestra Director Natalie Jones.

The Port of Call Community Players' production of "Brigadoon" will be performed at the Spencerport High School Auditorium, 2707 Spencerport Road, on July 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and July 15 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and $9 for children, students and seniors and are now available at all Wegmans service desks. Tickets will also be available at the door prior to each performance.
