Summer musical theatre
training for students takes the stage

Hilton Parma Recreation is offering encore musical theatre camps this summer for students in grades 3 through 12. Kathleen Sereika, a BFA musical theater major who has toured the nation with The Children's Theater, will be the primary instructor. She will be accompanied by two other SUNY Fredonia musical theater majors, Sanford Holsapple and Caitlyn Herzlinger, forming the group P.U.R.E. Creativity. This is an expansion of a successful workshop in January 2007 run by Sereika, which had 49 elementary school students doing a dance routine to "We're All in This Together" from Disney's "High School Musical" as a grand finale. Camp for third through fifth-graders will be July 9 to 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Grades 6 to 8 will study July 23 to 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while high school students will be the focus for the week of July 30 through August 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost for each of the camps is $125 per participant. Call Hilton Parma Recreation at 392-9030 or visit their office at 59 Henry Street for more information or to register.

On the last day of camp, parents and friends will be invited to a short performance to showcase all that was learned during the week. Call 349-9028 or e-mail mmendola@monroe2boces.org with questions.
