AREA

Hill, Gordon E., 88, of Clearwater, Florida, died June 21, 2007 at Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was born in Churchville and moved to Florida in 1976. He worked 37 years as an electronic instrumentation engineer for Eastman Kodak Co. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Palm Harbor, American Legion, Turner-Brandon Post 7 and a former member of Countryside Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a son, Roger, and a daughter Beverly Cantrell, both of North Carolina; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.


ALBION

Palmateer, Robert A., 78, of Albion, who formerly resided in Oakfield for 50 years, died July 1, 2007 at Medina Memorial Hospital. He was retired from Graham Mfg. Co. in Batavia, where he was a welder. He was also a member of St. Cecilia's Church in Oakfield, a member of the Churchville Moose Club, a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Batavia, and an avid fisherman, bowler and golfer. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Elwell Palmateer; one daughter, Kerrie Ann (Roger) Hollis of Fort Collins, Colorado; three sons, David R. (Gail) Palmateer of Payson, Arizona, James E. (Betty) Palmateer of Maricopa, Arizona and Neal A. (Charlotte Murray) Palmateer of Farmington, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and cousins. He was father of the late Richard E. Palmateer and Patricia A. Palmateer.

A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted July 7 at Cecilia's Church, Oakfield. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Brockport.


BROCKPORT

Brown, Agnes S., June 26, 2007. Survived by cousins, Thomas (Colleen) Cody of Florida, Raymond (Karen) Cody of South Carolina and Raymond Cody III of Rochester and many close friends.

Graveside Services were held July 11 in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.


CHURCHVILLE

Brown, Phillip J., On July 7, 2007. He is survived by his fiancée Kathy Worth; his daughter, Arieal; sisters, Sharon Minuto, Christine (Frank) Marcella; brother, William Carol and several nieces and nephews. Phillip was an avid outdoorsman, nature lover and enjoyed backpacking in the Adirondacks.

A Memorial Mass was said July 10 at the Church of the Nativity BVM, Brockport. Contributions can be made to Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101-0036 in his memory.


Jacobs, Joan V., July 7, 2007, at age 77. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Don L. Jacobs; her children, Donna (Jeff) Davis, Sharon (Gary) Knepshield and Dana (Sylvia) Jacobs; her grandchildren, Jamie, Michael, Jared, Kristy, Joshua, Nicholas and Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Madison, Tyler and Piper; her sister, Marna (Bob) Twichell; several nieces and nephews. Joan was a member of the Eastern Star Nola Chapter in Churchville, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #954, and Riga First Congregational Church.

A Memorial Service was held July 11 at First Congregational Church of Riga, Churchville. Interment at the convenience of the family. HAMLIN

Dawes, Gail M. Foreman, July 7, 2007, age 43. She was predeceased by her son, Brian, 1989, and her father, William "Butch" Foreman. Survived by her twin sons, Mark and Matthew Dawes; her mother, Florence Foreman; her brothers and sister, Billy, Michael (Faye) Foreman and Audrey (Tom) Carver; beloved partner Chuck Evenski; father of her children, Michael Dawes; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service was held July 12 at Hilton Exempt Club. Private interment, St. John's Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in memory of Gail and Brian.


HILTON

Christopher, Grace Catherine, April 30, 2007 to July 9, 2007. Precious daughter of Tina (Young) and Jason Christopher, beautiful sister of Jacob and Abigail. Predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Edward Young; also survived by grandparents, Anne and William Leitner, Ernest and Kathleen Christopher, aunts, Amy (David) McKinley and Jill (Brian) Faucher; uncle, Todd (Amanda) Young and numerous great-aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. Grace was cherished by all who knew her.

A Mass of the Angels was said July 14 at Holy Name of Jesus Church. Private interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.


Fritts, Carol L. (Leonard), Suddenly on July 5, 2007. Carol is survived by her children, Taylor W., Vicki L. (Alan DesGrange) Long, Carolyn (Don) Harter, Alicia (Jason) Dingman; beloved grandchildren, Brandon W. Fritts, Jacob D. Jensen, Andrea N. Harter; sister, Mercedes (Bob) Lehman; mother-in-law, Thelma M. Bartlow; sister-in-law, Dolores M. Fritts; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of her Life was held July 8 at the Harris Family Center, Kings Highway South. Contributions can be made to the Hilton Ambulance in her memory.


HOLLEY

Christopher, Josephine, age 82, died July 9, 2007 at Strong Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Josephine was a member of St. Mary's Church and a member of the S.L.I.M. group of the church. Also, she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Daughters of America in Albion. She worked as a homemaker, an assistant manager for the admissions office at Columbia University and had worked as a secretary for over 20 years for the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper. She was predeceased by her brothers Marc and Peter Caraccia. She is survived by her husband Richard, of 60 years; sons Richard (Christine) of Rochester, Anthony (Shirley) of Holley, Robert (Karen) of Holley; grandchildren Kimberly Pohlig, Zoe Christopher, Tamera (Erik) Bolthouse, Aaron Christopher, Beth Christopher; great grandchildren Mattie and Geneva Bolthouse; brothers Francis (Dolores) Caraccia of Alaska Joseph (Mary) Caraccia of Virginia; sister-in-law Lillian Nenni of Albion; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said July 13 at St. Mary's Church. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Clarendon Emergency Squad in her memory.

Brew, Viola G., July 6, 2007 at age 86. Predeceased by her husband, Raymond L. Brew. Survived by her children, Carol A. Tritak, Judy K. Smith, Carl R. Brew, and Nancy J. (Mark) Guran; grandchildren, John S. (Kathleen A.) Tritak, Shirley J. Smith, David S. Tritak, Sarah Smith, Joyce T. Brew, Dung T. Brew, Mai T. Brew, Thu Trang T. (Karl) Oretega, Xuan T. Brew, John Guran, Christopher Guran and Heather Guran; great-grandchildren, Georgia A. Underwood, Rose D., April 25, 2007 at age 75. She is survived by her husband of 51 years George H. Underwood Sr.; her children, Mary Jo (John) Galligan, Lori (Gary) Ritzel and George H. (Kathy Turrie) Underwood; her grandchildren, Ann Marie, John, Travis, Curtis and Amanda; five great grandchildren; siblings, Anne Andolina and Henry (Dolores) DiAngelo; many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held July 14 at White Haven Memorial Park, Pittsford, in the All Season's Chapel. Contributions can be made to RTA Hospice, 1675 E. Monument Plaza Dr., Casa Grande, Arizona or a Hospice Charity of one's choice in her memory.


Walls, Eunice A., July 5, 2007, at Rochester General Hospital. Wife of the late Larry Walls. Mother of Eric (Jackie Lane) Mullins of Spencerport, William (Lisa) Mullins of Rochester, Steven (Karen) Mullins of Texas; step-mother of April Walls and Jessica Walls of Albion; grandmother of four; sister of David Rushbrook and Dale Rushbrook, both of Kendall and Lynn Rushbrook of Albion.

Funeral Services were held July 10 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Albion. Interment, Mt. Albion Cemetery.


Weller, Alton H. "W2CBA," July 9, 2007 at age 87. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Thelma A. Weller; his children Roger (Sara) Weller of Anthem, Arizona, Thomas (Joyce) Weller of Chili and Deborah (Thomas Jr.) Weller-Plucknette of Spencerport; grandchildren Kimberly Weller (Terry Plavala) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Ryan Weller of Brockport, Eliecia (Gary) Young of Anthem, Arizona, Christopher (Molly) Weller of Tallahassee, Florida, Renee Weller (fiance Yoel Bakas) of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas (Jessica) Killins-Plucknette of Wilson, New York, Jolienne Plucknette (fiance Daniel Farmen) of Rochester and Gabrielle Plucknette of Spencerport; great grandchildren, Morgan and Madalon Young, Emily Weller. He was a member of the Ogden Presbyterian Church, a retiree of Eastman Kodak Co., an avid Ham Radio Operator for 58 years, a 2nd LT in the Army Air Corps during WWII piloting B-17's and B-24's, a member of Harvey C. Noone American Legion Post #954.

Funeral Services were held July 14 at Walker Brothers Co. Funeral Home Inc., Spencerport. Interment at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.
