Lakeside Hospital receives national Premier Healthcare Award

Lakeside Hospital has been recognized by the Premier Healthcare Alliance with the 2007 Premier Award for Quality for excellence in the care of patients in the area of Maternal and Neonatal Care.

Donna DuPont and Barbara Klinkbeil, two nurses from Lakeside's OB department, traveled to Orlando to accept the award at the 2007 Premier Annual Breakthroughs Conference. Lakeside earned the quality award on both quality of care and operational measures. Premier's quality awards annually measure six clinical areas and data from 400 hospitals nationwide are analyzed. "Hospitals that win the Premier Award for Quality deliver the highest quality of care in a cost-effective way," said Stephanie Alexander, senior vice president and general manager of Premier Healthcare Informatics. "Congratulations to all of them for delivering excellent patient care by using best practices and evidence-based decision-making."

"Receiving the Premier Award for Quality reinforces the fact that our employees are continuously striving to offer the highest quality patient care on a daily basis," said Kevin Nacy, Lakeside CEO. "Lakeside is celebrating 75 years of service in 2007. For nearly four generations we have delivered babies and cared for families from our area. Dr. Boon and his colleagues Drs. Junor, Dimopoulos and Stephens are proud of the staff and for the recognition of the excellence we've always delivered."

"Data by Premier shows that Lakeside has a low Neonatal Mortality Rate as well as a low complication and Primary Cesarean Section rate," DuPont said. "Other factors influencing the award are length of stay and cost of care for mom and baby. The real winners are the patients who benefit from better care, that's what matters to us."
