New York State volunteer firefighters move into new home

After more than two years of construction, the residents of the Firemen's Home of the State of New York - the only nursing home dedicated to providing quality health care to volunteer firefighters throughout New York state - have made history by moving into their new home.

With the first shovel put into the ground on February 8, 2005, followed by the first cement being poured one month later and the first steel erected on May 17, 2005, the new 126,000 square foot facility is a reality. The new building of the Firemen's Home of the State of New York constructed on the existing 122-acre campus, replaces the original Hudson, New York facility which dates back to 1892. The new Firemen's Home is an ultra-modern, state-of-the-art facility designed with the resident members in mind.

The home includes bright and spacious resident rooms, a hi-tech rehabilitation center and therapy swimming pool, dining room with fireplace, domed chapel, library, commissary, auditorium and more.

For information call the Firemen's Home at (800) 479-7695 or visit their website at www.firemenshome.com.
