Nominations sought for
Greenway and Community Trail awards

Parks & Trails New York, a statewide parks and trails advocacy organization, is seeking nominations for its 2007 Greenway and Community Trail Awards. The awards, which will be presented September 28 at Parks & Trails New York's statewide trails and greenways conference, recognize the leadership, creativity and donation of time, talent and materials behind many of New York's trails. The deadline for submission is August 31.

Awards will be given in five categories. The Public Leadership, Volunteer Service and Corporate Partnership Awards recognize contributions to planning, design, construction, management, promotion and/or public involvement for a trail project or program. The Healthy Trails, Healthy People Award recognizes efforts to promote active community environments and improve universal access to trails. The more open-ended Outside the Box Award recognizes unique greenway efforts that demonstrate ingenuity and creativity.

Information can be found on the Parks and Trails New York website, www.ptny.org.
