SUNY Potsdam presented the Rebecca R. Pratt Scholarship for Excellence in Politics to Adam Falcheck of Hilton. This renewable scholarship is awarded to an outstanding sophomore politics major. The scholarship was created by a friend of the Pratt family in memory of Rebecca Pratt who was a 1997 politics graduate of SUNY Potsdam.


SUNY Potsdam awarded the Rebecca R. Pratt Arts and Sciences Scholarship to Benjamin Falcheck of Hilton. The scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman with an outstanding high school record who is planning to major in an arts and science discipline. The award is renewable for up to three additional years contingent on the student's maintaining a 3.0 grade point average.


Nadine Beres has been awarded the Commonwealth Good Citizen Scholarship by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of the State of Pennsylvania. Any student enrolled in any public or private college/university in the State of Pennsylvania can be nominated by their respective college/university; the selection process is very intense. She is one of only seven students in the state of Pennsylvania selected for this award based on her extracurricular and academic achievements. She is majoring in elementary and special education with a minor in art therapy at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania and carries a 3.995 GPA She is working this summer for BOCES 2 and DePaul Avenues to Independence as a one-on-one aid for children with autism. Beres is the daughter of John and Georgeann Beres of Hamlin and a graduate of Kendall High School.


Jennifer D'Angiolillo of Hamlin was named to the dean's list at Saint Leo University for the spring 2007 semester. D'Angiolillo is an elementary education major. Students who have earned at least 12 credits with a term grade point average of 3.65 or higher are recognized on the dean's list, which is announced at the conclusion of each semester.


Zachary S. Grobengieser, of Spencerport, son of William H. Grobengieser and Laura J. Grobengieser, was awarded a bachelor of arts by Colgate University Sunday, May 20. Grobengieser majored in political science and was a member of the men's varsity swim team.


Sara Rath of Hamlin has been named to the dean's list at St. Bonaventure University for spring 2007. She is a senior majoring in elementary education/special ed. She is the daughter of Brian and Terry Rath.


Nicole Seaman of Brockport has achieved the dean's list with a GPA of 3.40-3.69 at SUNY College at Brockport for spring of 2007. She is a 2001 graduate of Kendall High School and is the daughter of Zina and Martin Goodenbury.


Michelle Burke, daughter of Carol and Michael Burke of Spencerport and a graduate of Spencerport High School, has been awarded the Rochester West Central Kiwanis Club Award for her academic achievements. This award is given to a student who has demonstrated good, stable academic performance and leadership by service to their school, fellow students and community.


Sandra E. Czelusniak, daughter of Maureen and John Czelusniak, graduated cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor of arts in history and minor in law and society. She will attend Queens University in Belfast, Northern Ireland this fall to pursue a master's degree in modern history.


Erin Carter of Brockport has achieved the dean's list with honors with a GPA of 3.70-3.99 at SUNY College at Brockport spring of 2007. She is a 2005 graduate of Brockport High School and is the daughter of Richard and Susan Carter.


Lindsay A. Scheg, daughter of Dr. Daniel and Laurie Scheg of Hilton, graduated with honors from the masters program at the University of Rochester, with her degree in community counseling and certification. She received her undergraduate degree in English and secondary education from St. Bonaventure University in 2002. Over the course of the past four years, she obtained her certification as a School Counselor and has taught seventh grade English at Willink Middle School in Webster. She is the advisor of the "Respect and Protect Anti-Bully Program" and is also the co-director of the Drama Department at Willink Middle School.


Kimberly A. Scheg, daughter of Dr. Daniel and Laurie Scheg of Hilton, graduated summa cum laude from St. John Fisher College dual majoring in childhood education/special education. As part of her course study she completed the requirements for certification in her major and was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society of Education. She is furthering her education by attending St. John Fisher College to obtain her master's in literacy. She began a student-run dance team at Fisher and was given the honor of being chosen as Senior of the Year.


Jessica Marenus of Hamlin was named to the dean's list for spring semester at the University of Findlay. She attained a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.


Nazareth College named Danielle Bernier of Spencerport to the dean's list for the spring 2007 semester. Bernier is the daughter of Sherri Bernier and Leonard Britton. She is involved in Nazareth's Math Club and is student-teaching at French Road Elementary School in Brighton. A student's grade point average must be at least 3.5 or above, and they must complete at least 12 credit hours of graded work that semester in order to be included on the dean's list at Nazareth.


Michael Andolina of Rochester, son of Patricia and Michael Andolina, graduated from Hartwick College with a bachelor of science degree in Computer Science. At Hartwick he participated in Alpha Chi Rho and Men's Varsity Football.


Samantha Davis of Brockport was named to the spring 2007 dean's list at Daemen College. A matriculated undergraduate student who attains a grade point average of 3.30 or better in any one semester is eligible for dean's list status.


Valerie Dimino of Hilton has achieved the dean's list with honors with a GPA of 3.93 at SUNY College at Brockport for spring of 2007. She is a 2004 graduate of Hilton High School and is the daughter of Frank and Linda Dimino. She was named the English Department scholar for the 2006-2007 school year.


Lynnea Schurkamp of Spencerport made the dean's list and earned a certificate of merit in modern real estate in her seventh term of study at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She is a graduate of SUNY Cortland and of Spencerport High School. She is the daughter of Roger and Charlene Schurkamp.


SUNY Potsdam presented Laura Osgood of Spencerport with the Honors in Performance Award at its annual Crane School of Music Honors Convocation. Honors in Performance are awarded to any student who has distinguished himself or herself in performance while at SUNY Potsdam's The Crane School of Music.


The following students were awarded bachelor of arts degrees by Colgate University Sunday, May 20: Brandon J. Whitaker, of Brockport, son of Joshua S. Whitaker Jr. and Pearlethia Whitaker. He majored in Africana studies. In addition, Whitaker was a member of the varsity football team. Jaclyn E. Burch, of Hilton, daughter of John R. Burch and Virginia E. Burch. She majored in neuroscience and graduated summa cum laude with high honors in neuroscience. In addition, Burch was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the women's varsity soccer team.


Moria Story of Rochester, a senior psychology major at Elizabethtown College, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2007 semester. Students earning a semester grade point average of 3.5 or better in nine or more credit hours of letter-graded coursework are placed on the dean's list.

Mary Everroad-Earley, of Kentucky, enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard as a combat medic. She will be a member of the 149th Vertical Combat Engineering Company. She is to report to Fort Jackson, South Carolina September 18 for basic training, followed by AIT training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Her unit is scheduled for deployment to Afghanistan in early 2008. She joins her sister, Christine, in the military. She is a 2002 graduate of Kendall Jr.-Sr. High School and formerly lived in Morton.
