Rochester Civic Garden Center
offers garden classes at Springdale Farm

Area gardeners can join Nellie Gardner, Springdale Farm's horticulturist, during the Summer Tour of Flower Fields: Landscaping for Beauty and Cut Flowers on Thursday, August 9 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nellie creates hundreds of amazing bouquets every summer for sale at Flower Fields at Springdale Farm, and almost every week makes all the arrangements for one or more weddings entirely from flowers and greens harvested at the farm in Ogden. These floral designs are enhanced with a wealth of material Nellie harvests from the shrubs and perennials in the landscape. Enjoy a guided tour of all the gardens at Springdale - fruit, vegetable, perennial, herb, sensory, biblical, pizza, children's, and others. Gardner will show you the best varieties of annuals, perennials and shrubs to grow for landscaping as well as cut material. See the arrangements created for a summer wedding, and pick a bouquet of flowers to take home. Handouts provided. Registration is through the Rochester Civic Garden Center (RCGC) at 585-473-5130 and the class fee is $18 for RCGC members and $25 for non-members. Springdale Farm is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. For information call (585) 349-2090 or visit www.springdalefarm.org. The farm is on Colby Street on the Ogden-Sweden border near Northampton Park.
