North Chili resident and Azusa Pacific University student Emily F. Garwood was named to the academic dean's list at APU. A graduate of Churchville-Chili Senior High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Garwood, the student is honored for a fall semester 2007 academic standing of 3.5 or better grade-point average. Garwood is a marketing major.


The following local students graduated from Morrisville State College in May. Erika M. Attoma and Sean P. Smith, both of Hilton; Jennifer E. Habgood of Hamlin; David M. Hull of Spencerport and Andrew S. Ketchum of Churchville.


Will Mitchell has earned placement on SUNY Brockport's dean's list with honors for the 2007 spring semester. He was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society for collegiate schools of business. He was inducted into the Nu Rho Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, a national honor society for political science majors. This summer, he is completing an internship with the Monroe County Public Defenders Office. He is the son of Brad and Molly Mitchell.


Timothy W. Houck of Brockport has graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in industrial design. Houck studied in RIT's School of Design in the College of Imaging Arts & Sciences. He is the son of Marilyn and William Houck of Brockport and a 2000 gradate of Brockport High School. He was named to the dean's list for fall, winter and spring quarters of the 2006-2007 academic year.


Trevor Zachary Dimarco, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for academic achievement in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering for the spring 2007 semester.

Dimarco, a resident of Spencerport, is the son of Donald and Cheryl Royce and a graduate of Spencerport High School.


Douglas Jay Bennett, a junior majoring in philosophy at the University of Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for academic achievement in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering for the spring 2007 semester. Bennett, a resident of Spencerport, is the son of Bill and Lynne Bennett and a graduate of Spencerport High School.


Nazareth College named Kristina Fillion of Hilton to the dean's list for the fall 06/spring 07 semester. She is the daughter of Gary and Laurie Fillion. She is actively involved in working at BOCES 2 summer school program and teaching piano, flute and saxophone.

A student's grade point average must be at least 3.5 or above, and they must complete at least 12 credit hours of graded work that semester in order to be included on the dean's list at Nazareth.


Stacie Nicole Coon of Brockport has achieved the dean's list with a GPA of 3.40-3.69 at SUNY College at Brockport for spring 2007. She is a 2004 graduate of Brockport Central High School and is the daughter of Gary and Wanda Coon. She received the Annette Lamphier Rock Nursing Scholarship and is doing an internship at Strong Memorial Hospital in the Trauma/General Surgery Department.


SUNY Fredonia announced students at the State University of New York at Fredonia have been named to the dean's list for the spring 2007 semester. Dean's list students have earned a grade point average of at least 3.30 or higher for that semester out of a possible 4.0, while carrying a full-time minimum course load of at least 12 credit hours. Johnson & Wales University held May commencement ceremonies on one of their campuses including one in Providence, Rhode Island. The following local students graduated:

Eric Godlove, of Bergen, received a bachelor of science in marketing communications from the College of Business.

Kyle Eck, of Rochester, received a bachelor of science in culinary arts from the College of Culinary Arts.

Justin Ferguson, of Rochester, received a bachelor of science in culinary arts from the College of Culinary Arts.

Andrew Zapf, of Hilton, received a bachelor of science in baking & pastry arts from the College of Culinary Arts.

Mark Alberghini, of Morton, received a bachelor of science in culinary arts from the College of Culinary Arts.


Local SUNY Potsdam students have been recognized for achievements at college, either by being named to the dean's list or have been awarded a degree. To achieve dean's list status students must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically graded semester hours that semester with a grade point average of between 3.25 and 3.49. Lynn Marie Sorel of Brockport, daughter of Patricia Sorel of Brockport, graduated as a psychology major. Sean Clifford Conlon of Spencerport graduated cum laude as a music education major. He is the son of Russ Conlon of Spencerport. Christina Rose Kesselring of Spencerport graduated summa cum laude as a psychology major. She is the daughter of Mark Kesselring of Spencerport.


Patrick Hastings of the Chili office of Nothnagle Realtors, 4156 Buffalo Road, has been named the salesperson of the month for May and June.

Hastings sales volume for the two-month period exceeded $2,500,000. He recorded 20 transactions including 12 sales and eight listings sold.

Hastings has achieved the honor many times along with being named in the 'Top 30' Agents, out of 600 Agents, at the Nothnagle organization. He has been the top selling agent in the Chili Office the past 11 years.

Hastings has been with Nothnagle Realtors since September 1978 and resides in Churchville with his wife, Christina.


Army Pvt. Nia N. McDonald has graduated from the Parachute Rigger Course at the 262nd Quartermaster Battalion, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Virginia.

The servicemenber was trained to inspect, pack, rig, recover, store and maintain airdrop equipment. Airdrop equipment includes troop and cargo parachutes, platforms, cushioning materials, and extraction and release systems.

She is the daughter of Brenda L. McDonald of Wind Willow Way, Rochester and is a 2006 graduate of Churchville-Chili Senior High School, Churchville.


Pvt. Clayton S. Leverenz graduated from United States Marine Corps recruit training on July 6 at Parris Island, South Carolina. He is in combat training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Once completed, he will transfer to Ft. Lee, Virginia to begin training in his assigned field of bulk fuel. He is a 2006 graduate of Brockport High School, and the son of David and Pamela Leverenz of Hamlin.
