B-B students play basketball with NBA star

Byron-Bergen students participated in a basketball clinic with NBA Guard Sam Cassell at the Teddi "T" Sports Fest held July 14, at the Brighton Campus of Monroe Community College.

The Teddi "T" Sports Fest Basketball Clinic with Cassell was offered free of charge for children ages 8 to 18. Byron-Bergen students Cole Thompson, Jake Maurer, Kelsey Maurer, Rori Partridge, Alex Gunther, Harjit Singh, Kayleigh Puma, Katheryn Palmer and Trevor Partridge, took part in various skills and drills and learned a few pro techniques.

"The opportunity was provided by Teddi "T" Sports Fest for our players to meet and learn from NBA Guard Sam Cassell, and people like Coach Kornaker from St. John Fisher College, is invaluable to their development as young student-athletes." Byron-Bergen Boys Varsity Basketball Coach Jason Blom organized the Byron-Bergen participants. "It was an afternoon that they will always remember," Blom said. The students who participated in the Basketball Clinic presented their final report cards, showing all passing grades, which earned them each a commemorative Teddi "T" Sports Fest Basketball Clinic T-Shirt.

The Teddi "T" Sports Fest, which has become a summer tradition, is sponsored by the Camp Good Days' Partners Against Violence Everywhere (PAVE) Initiative. In addition to the Basketball Clinic, this year's Teddi "T" Sports Fest also included the traditional 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament; Baseball Clinic with the Monroe Community baseball team and coaches; KICK IT Kicking Academy with former NFL Kicker, Steve Christie; and a Talkin' Sports Dinner with professional wrestling icon, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.
