According to Teacher Deb Cummings, the mission was to plan and participate in a golf tournament that provides a unique team building experience designed to reinforce life values of honesty, integrity, hard work, responsibility, creativity, adventure and balance.

Students organize corporate classic Golf Tournament

Brockport High School Sport Management students held their first-ever golf tournament, The Corporate Classic, for fellow students in the Corporate Communications Class at BHS. The four-person scramble held at the end of the school year at Deerfield Country Club was a team building activity featuring 56 golfers and included a putting challenge, two longest drive contests, closest to the pin challenge, team trivia contest and a Habits of the Mind contest (character education).

Sport Management students lined up the complete program of events, the practice range, nine holes of golf, riding cart, lunch, snacks, tee packages, various awards and prizes. During the five week course students learned how to plan, organize, and run the golf tournament. Committees were formed similar to LPGA or PGA. Student-run teams worked on Pairings/Registration, Accounting, Marketing, Hospitality and Evaluation, Safety/Rules, Special Events/Awards and Photography.
