Hunter safety course scheduled
Mandatory course for first-time hunters is available to local residents

Instructors certified by the Department of Environmental Conservation will conduct a Hunter Safety Course September 4, 5 and 8 at the North Star Sportsman's Club in Hamlin. Those interested in attending may register in-person at the Clerk's Office, Town of Parma located at 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road, Hilton, NY, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday.

The free course is required for first time hunters who wish to obtain a New York state hunting license. Safe firearm handling combined with safe, responsible, ethical hunter conduct and skills will be covered. Pre-course work is required and space is limited so it is recommended to register early.

Students must be residents of New York state. The instructors prefer students be eligible to hunt (12 years or older) as of September 4. A parent or legal guardian must accompany and register students 16 years of age and younger. Proof of age may be requested. Registration is handled on a first-come first-served basis.
