2007 Greece Community Scholarships awarded

Two Greece students who have excelled in high school have been awarded scholarships that will help to pay their first year college expenses.

Each year Greece Community Partners grants one or more scholarships based on earnings of an endowment fund established several years ago from profits of the Greece Summer Festival and additional fund raisers such as the twice a year brunch/theaters. This year, each student will receive $750.

One of the outstanding scholarship winners is Greece Athena graduate Alexandra Lunt who achieved a 3.8 grade point average as well as participated in numerous school and community activities.

Mark Ramzy, a graduate of Hilton High School, achieved a grade point average of 95. He was involved in many school and community activities and plans to attend Canisius College, to study psychology/pre-medicine.

His long-term goal is to be able to have a medical career as either a neurologist or possibly an anesthesiologist. Ramzy participated in Model United Nations (president), National Honor Society (president), Student Council (vice president), Musical/Men's Chorus, Science Olympiad, and Hilton tennis. He also volunteered with Friends of Strong Hospital Summer and Greece Volunteer Ambulance.
