High School seniors Ryan Hage, Lindsay Hage and Will Banner return from their trip to the 71st Annual National Association of Student Councils (NASC) National Conference, wearing some of the items they traded with other delegates.


Students attend National Association of Student Councils conference

Brockport High School Seniors Will Banner, Lindsay Hage and Ryan Hage, are among 1,900 student council leaders and student activity advisers who attended the 71st Annual National Association of Student Councils (NASC) National Conference, June 23 through 27 at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas. NASC offers leadership training at its conferences, focusing on turning student leaders into lifelong leaders.

The students were trained in basic and advanced leadership, communication skills and dealing with diversity. They participated in discussions on issues relevant to today's youth as well as an idea exchange with other leaders from across the country. Delegates also took part in an extra special community service project his year. The students teamed up with the local chapter of the Special Olympics to put on an event that will allow the athletes to showcase their skills. National Special Olympics CEO and President Dr. Tim Shriver was on hand to offer the delegates and the athletes some words of wisdom and encouragement.

Banner is the son of Scott and Liz Banner. While at Brockport High School, he served as junior class president, a member of student council, band, choir and drama club, and a member of the volleyball, track, and basketball teams. Lindsay Hage is the daughter of Diane and Charles Hage. While at Brockport High School, she was vice president of her class for three years, member of varsity club, and an active member of the soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams. Ryan Hage is the son of Diane and Charles Hage. While at Brockport High School, he was freshman class president, a member of student council and National Honor Society, and a member of the lacrosse and basketball teams.
