Braille transcribers sought

Volunteers are needed in the Spencerport area to provide Braille transcription for the blind. Volunteers transcribe textbooks, novels, cookbooks, menus, etc.

Braille Transcription classes are given from September through April. It involves one daytime class per week and approximately one to two hours of homework and daily practice. After classes are completed, a manuscript is submitted to the Library of Congress for evaluation that leads to certification.

Certified Braillists work at home and set up their own work schedule. Support continues to be provided by the Braille Service Group.

Classes begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 20. For sign-up information and location call Donna Fahey at 352-0722.
