Orleans County schedules used tire clean-up

On September 22, the Orleans County Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor its second annual county wide used tire clean-up. Tires can be brought to the Orleans County Redemption Center, (next door to the County Emergency Management Office) at 14064 County House Road, Albion between 9 a.m. and noon. There is a charge of $1.50 per car tire off the rim and $1.75 per tire on the rim. Truck tires, (19-1100 series) will be charged $6.50 per tire off the rim and $13 per tire on the rim. Tractor tires will not be accepted. The tires will be recycled into several different projects, including grinding up for use in construction projects similar to gravel.

The Soil and Water District requests registration of the number of tires to be delivered by September 4. Registration forms are available at the Orleans County SWCD office, 446 West Avenue, Albion, NY 14411, or at any town hall. Payment is not required until the tires are dropped off.
