The following residents have been awarded fall 2007 academic scholarships from SUNY College at Brockport: The Distinguished Scholar award requires the student be a valedictorian or salutatorian, have a high school average of 96 or better, and have a 1250 or higher SAT or 27 ACT score. The scholarship includes full in-state tuition, room partial board and all mandatory fees each year. The scholarship is valued at $13,000 annually. Distinguished Scholars include: Emily Salvas of Rochester and Spencerport residents Andrew Gaul and Kaitlin Sampson.

Presidential Scholars must have a high school average of 93 or higher, rank in the top 20 percent of the class, and have a 1200 or higher SAT or 26 ACT score. The scholarship is valued at $5,360 annually. Presidential Scholars include: Michelle Burke and Christine Ealy of Spencerport; from Holley, Lindsay Fishbaugh and from Hilton, Christine DeSimon and Bernadette Eichas.

Students are named dean's scholars at SUNY College at Brockport for academic achievements. Each Dean's Scholar must be in the top 25 percent of their class, have a grade point average of 90 or better, and 1100 SAT or 24 ACT score. The scholarship includes partial board and is valued at $2,500 annually. Dean's Scholars include: Andrea Christian and Nicole Gallup of Churchville; from Spencerport, Robert Cornish and Juliann Ollies; from Hilton, Joshua Dimino and Karlee Krist; from Kendall, Kimberly Herold and from Hamlin, Emily Riddell.

The Scholar Recognition Award is offered to freshmen who have demonstrated superior academic achievement throughout their high school program. The scholarship is valued at $2,000 annually. Scholar Recognition Award recipients include: George Buchukuri of Holley.

The Faculty Scholars award for transfer students requires a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.75 and junior status. The scholarship is valued at $1,058 for two years. Faculty Scholars include: Joseph Yockel of Hilton and from North Chili, Erica Scheel.


Patrick Montanaro was awarded a first degree Black Belt in Isshin Ryu Karate on July 21. He is a student at the Northeastern Martial Arts Institute in Chili under the direction of Sensei Martin Noel. He will be attending the Rochester Institute of Technology in September majoring in criminal justice. He is the son of Nick and Romea Montanaro of Ogden.


KrausCreative Inc. has appointed Becky Martin account manager. Martin assumes responsibility for client relations, production coordination and organization of marketing and graphic design projects.

Martin brings close to 20 years of account and project management experience to KrausCreative. Most recently, she held the position of Product Manager at Soleo Communications, Inc. Martin has also held positions with Element K, Visual In-Seitz, Inc. and the Eastman Kodak Company.

Martin earned a bachelor of science degree in audio visual communications and an associate's degree in photo illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She is also certified in IT Comp Project Management.

Becky Martin resides in Chili.


Chelsie Cliff of Hamlin, daughter of Dale and Renee Cliff, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester. She is studying business law at the University at Albany.


Meghan Lodge, CMC, Deputy Treasurer, Village of Churchville, has been awarded the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) for achieving the high educational, experience and service requirements.

Lodge has been employed with the Village of Churchville since September, 1999 serving as village deputy treasurer.

She attained her designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) by attending the Cornell Municipal Clerks Institute, accredited by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and sponsored by the Community and Rural Development Institute and Joint Education Planning Committee of the New York State Town Clerks Association and the New York State Association of City and Village Clerks. This program provides 100 student/instructor contact hours of in-depth courses in managerial and leadership skills, social and interpersonal concerns, and technical training needed to deal with changes taking place in government.


Christina L. Falco of Rochester received a Juris Doctor degree from Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts.


Wendy Begy has joined Prudential Discover Real Estate as a sales associate. She has been a sales agent for over five years and resides in Hamlin.


Da'Vaun Costa was the top listing agent for July at Prudential Discover Real Estate. She has two sons and resides in Gates.


Lisa West was the top sales agent for July at Prudential Discover Real Estate. She is a multi-million dollar producer and also volunteers for Gates Ambulance.


William M. Lee has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington. The ROTC cadet has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army.

Cadets in their junior and senior year of college must complete the leadership development course. Upon successful completion of the course, the ROTC program, and graduation from college, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, National Guard, or Reserve.
