Public hearings set on proposed waterway regulation

The International Joint Commission (IJC) will hold eight public hearings to receive comment on its draft Order of Approval, new regulation plan and other matters related to the regulation of water levels and flows on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. The draft Order and several background documents will be released on September 17. The IJC intends to make a final decision by the end of the year.

The public hearings will be held at the following times and locations in this area: Tuesday, October 30, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Greece Town Hall, Eastman Room, 1 Vince Toffany Boulevard, Greece or Thursday, November 1, 7 to 9 p.m. at American Foundry, 246 West Seneca Street, Oswego.

The IJC will also hold online public briefings to explain its proposed decision and answer questions on October 9 from 2 to 3 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Instructions for participating will be made available at a later date, according to a press release.
