Brockport board discusses movie filming

While the filming of a movie in the village of Brockport is a thrilling event, some are less than thrilled with lack of parking spaces and traffic congestion. "I know there have been a few problems with the filming, but I think the village should be proud it was chosen as the spot for the filming of a movie and we should embrace the experience," Trustee David Wagenhauser said at the board meeting on September 4.

Brockport was chosen as the site of the new movie, "The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry." It is being filmed at various locations including Colleen's Café on Main Street.

Wagenhauser said that another independent movie director may want to film in the village in October. "John Gunn, who made the movie 'My Dinner with Drew,' is talking about coming here," he said.

In other matters:

The board approved a street closure for September 8 for Operation Patriot - a motorcycle procession that will come to the village between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., stop at the Firefighter's Monument then pass through the village. There could be as many as 10,000 motorcycles in the procession.

Mayor Mort Wexler read a proclamation recognizing Sergeant Douglas Ziegler for his years of service to the village. He began his career in Brockport in April 1986 and recently retired. He will be back on the force as a part time officer in September.

The next board meeting will be Monday, September 17.
