Newsmakers for the week of
September 9, 2007


Approximately 827 undergraduate and graduate students received degrees at SUNY Geneseo in May 2007. Local graduates were: Brandon Corsaro, Nicole Ford, Loni Hebberecht, Christine Jackson, Matthew MacGilvray, Nicholas Minunni, Christopher Powers, Matthew Ruff and Mark Schwamberger Jr., all of Spencerport.


Jennie Davy from Kent was recently named to the dean's list at the College of William and Mary for the spring 2007 semester.

In order to achieve dean's list status, a full-time degree seeking undergraduate student must take at least 12 credit hours and earn a 3.6 Quality Point Average during the semester.


Renee Bonneau, daughter of Linda and Peter Bonneau, graduated in May from Plattsburgh State University with a bachelor of science degree magna cum laude. She is also in "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." She is working in communications as a producer in Rochester.


Anne Markis of Spencerport, has been named to the dean's list for the spring quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A third-year student in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, she is studying software engineering. Markis, daughter of Bill and Joan Markis, is a 2004 graduate of Brockport High School.


Virginia Mangan, of Brockport, graduated from Santa Clara University in June 2007 with a degree in mechanical engineering.


Jordan Boyd, a 2006 graduate from Holley Senior High School, was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at American University in Washington, D.C. Boyd, the son of Ron and Tracy Boyd of Holley, was on the dean's list both semesters of his freshman year at American University. This summer, he completed an internship at the office of Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY). Matriculated in the School of Public Affairs at American University, he enjoys the opportunity to observe governmental proceedings and interact in the political arena.


Dan Head, manager of Nothnagle Spencerport Office, has announced that Mary Lobene (Bilinski) has been named Top Sales Person for the Months of June and July 2007.

Lobene has been with Nothnagle Realtors for 20 years and maintains her achievement with the company as a Multi-Million Dollar Producer in residential home sales. She resides in Spencerport/Ogden with her husband, Ray, and two sons, Beau and Jared.


Airman Kaitlin O'Connor, daughter of Linda and John O'Connor of Ogden and a graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, was recognized as an honor graduate from basic military training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. She is continuing her training at Keesler AFB in Mississippi.
