SUNY Brockport plans Homecoming Weekend events

SUNY College at Brockport will host its annual Homecoming Weekend September 13 through 16. Students, family, alumni and the community are invited to attend a wide-range of events on the college campus throughout the weekend.

Highlights of the weekend include: Thursday, September 13, Art Exhibit: Organically Speaking: works by Ginny Casey, Maureen Ciaccio and Andrea Hersh, Tower Fine Arts Gallery from 4 to 6 p.m. (also Friday, September 14, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.); Friday, September 14, Open Skate, Tuttle North Ice Arena, 8 to 9:45 p.m. Cost: $5 adults, $3 youth, students free with valid SUNY Brockport ID. Additional $3 for skate rental; Saturday, September 15, Cross Country Invitational, starts at Lot X on campus, 11 a.m. and Homecoming Parade, Village of Brockport, 11:30 a.m.

The route: Corner of Clinton and Main Street in Brockport, down Main Street, right onto College Street, left onto Utica Street, right onto Adams Street to New Campus Drive toward Special Olympics Park.

Football vs. SUNY Cortland - Special Olympics Stadium, 1 p.m.

Admission prices for athletic events are $4 adults, $3 alumni, $2 students; free for SUNY Brockport students, faculty and staff with valid SUNY Brockport ID.

Women's Soccer vs. Buffalo State - A. Huntley Parker Jr. Soccer Field, 1 p.m. Admission prices for athletic events are $4 adults, $3 alumni, $2 students; free for SUNY Brockport students, faculty and staff with valid SUNY Brockport ID.

Open Skate - Tuttle North Ice Arena, 3 to 5 p.m. Cost: $5 adults, $3 youth, students free with valid SUNY Brockport ID. Additional $3 for skate rental.

Tour de Brockport - Sagawa Park in the Village of Brockport, 3 to 5 p.m. Meet at Sagawa Park on Main Street in the Village of Brockport for a walking scavenger hunt. Receive a list of clues to collect various objects at businesses throughout the Village of Brockport. Prizes will be awarded. This event is free and open to everyone. Sponsored by the Village of Brockport, Walk! Bike! Brockport Action Committee SUNY College at Brockport.

Kids Night Out - Tuttle North, Room B286, 3 to 10 p.m. Children ages four and older will have the opportunity to swim, ice skate and play games in a fun, safe environment. The cost is $20 per child. Advanced registration required.

Rochester Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra - Tower Fine Arts Mainstage, 7:30 p.m. Cost: $8 students, $10 seniors, $12 general public. Advanced purchase recommended. Box office opens one hour prior to event.

On Sunday, September 16, there will be a 5K Run/Walk & Roll Race, Special Olympics Stadium, 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Proceeds go to the SUNY Brockport student emergency loan fund. Open Skate, Tuttle North Ice Arena, 3 to 4:50 p.m. Cost: $5 adults, $3 youth, students free with valid SUNY Brockport ID. Additional $3 for skate rental.
