Sweden Senior Center celebrates accreditation

The Sweden Senior Center in Brockport will celebrate its national accreditation with events at the center on Friday, September 14 and Saturday, September 15. The center, at 133 State Street, became the first nationally accredited senior center in Monroe County earlier this year.
On Friday, September 14, the center will hold an open house from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with various activities taking place throughout the facility including crafts, quilters' and Button Club display and tap and line dance.

Guest speakers include: Nat O. Lester III, Sweden Town Supervisor; Corinda Crossdale, director, Monroe County Office For The Aging; Wayne Zyra, president, Monroe County Legislature; Richard Yolevich, Monroe County Legislature; William Reilich, assemblyman, 134th Assembly District and George Maziarz, senator, 62nd Senatorial District.

There will be a buffet luncheon, reservation only, from noon to 1 p.m. Afternoon activities include: a ceramics display, the Sweden Singers, Tai Chi, bingo, arthritis exercise and line dancers.

On Saturday, September 15, an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. includes a punch and cookie reception with Bud DeTar at the piano. From 6 to 9 p.m. a formal reception will take place with dancing to the live music of the Gateswingers Big Band. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.
