Holley to present capital project proposals

It's been a long process, but members of the Holley Central School District's Capital Campaign committee are prepared to present their findings to the board of education.

"It's been almost a year-long process of our looking at various proposals and projects that needed to be completed within the district's buildings, but we are ready to present our findings," Superintendent Robert D'Angelo said. The findings will be presented to the board at a September 24 meeting. The meeting is open to the public, he said.

The Capital Campaign Committee was charged with researching the needs within the district that would fall under the EXCEL aid program for building renovations. "We have at least $412,000 to apply toward a capital project," he said. "The costs and scope of the project will be handed over to the board on Monday and it will be up to them to look at it and make decisions on whether they want to accept our findings or send the members of the committee back to revamp any aspects of the proposal."

D'Angelo said it would be premature for him to have given the dollar amount or scope and range of the project out before the board had a chance to review the information. "Once they review it, we can let the public know what it is and where we will go with it," he said. "Following the September 24 presentation, we are anticipating scheduling a special meeting in October to review their recommendations. We will keep the public apprised of the status throughout the project."

If the board accepts the committee's recommendations on a capital campaign project and renovation, there will be public hearings and a vote by the residents of the district.
