Bisons 12U wrap up season

The Sweden-Clarkson Bisons 12U travel baseball team finished its season by traveling to Cooperstown for tournament play. The tournament was held at the Cooperstown All Star Village during the week of August 4 through 10. The 11 member team, coached by Mike Myers and Tim Coughlin, played six games to determine positioning for the two day final rounds.

The 22 teams participating traveled across the United States and Canada. In the Bison's first tournament game they faced the Stratford Cobras from New Jersey. The Bisons were victorious by a 20-0 score. Their second round opponent was the Huntington Beach Vikings from California. The Bisons lost to the Vikings, who were an eventual semi-finalist, by a score of 13-3. Overall, the Bisons finished in ninth place out of the 22 teams.

Bison highlights included Cody Gould placing second in the Home Run Derby competition prior to tournament play. In the first tournament game Bryan Warner hit a grand slam home run to lead the Bisons to a 20-0 win. Zach Coughlin led the team with a .560 batting average and three home runs followed by Mikey Myers who batted .556 with 10 total hits throughout the competition. The team hit 12 home runs in the eight games played. Frank Marcera led the team in singles with 10 followed closely by Michael Knapp with eight. Several players combined to pitch for the Bisons throughout the week.

The 2007 Sweden Clarkson Bisons 12U roster included: Eric Brawn, Zach Coughlin, Brian Emmerson, Cody Gould, Brandon Henshaw, Mike Knapp, Frank Marcera, Mike Myers, Mark Nesbitt, Justin Porter and Bryan Warner.
