Byron-Bergen's eye on safety

"Safety First" is the district's number one goal at Byron-Bergen. That was demonstrated by work done over the summer and at the beginning of the school year with the installation of several cameras to help monitor the hallways and outside of the school buildings. The parking lot at the middle and high school was also reconfigured to allow safer passage for student drivers. The majority of the cost of the cameras was funded through grants.

Other safety initiatives that are underway include a series of meetings with middle school students to raise awareness around bullying. Student Bullying Awareness Days (SBAD) will be held bi-monthly while the Bully Proofing Your School curriculum will be taught over several months.
