Brockport records second win

Brockport scored three second-quarter touchdowns and went on to defeat host Spencerport 34-7 in high school football.

Senior quarterback Kevin Quinn ran for the first two touchdowns just four minutes apart in the second stanza and found Christian Boley on a 68-yard screen pass up the middle for another score to stake the Blue Devils to a 21-0 half time lead.

In the third quarter, Brockport put together another scoring drive highlighted by a pair of third down completions to Ryan Pratt and capped by a seven-yard run from Boley. The extra point attempt failed making it 27-0.

Spencerport broke up the shutout bid in the fourth quarter. Jarryl Carley caught a 33-yard pass from Justin Putt taking the ball into Brockport territory. Putt then scampered 22 yards on a keeper to the Blue Devils 16. After a pair of runs by Andrew Ta took the ball down to the five yard line, Carley finished the drive with a leaping catch in front of the defender for the Rangers' only points.

The Blue Devil's Herb Tyndell wrapped up the scoring with a 52 yard touchdown run off left tackle for the final points in the 34-7 victory.

"We were a little flat, but played a solid game - we needed the win," said Quinn, who finished 5-12 passing for 153 yards. "We need to win out the rest of the season and make a run to sectionals."

Spencerport fell to 1-3 and was led by Putt with 54 yards rushing and Carley, who had two receptions for 37 yards.
