Newsmakers for the week of

Air Force Airman Daniel S. Hannah graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

Hannah is the son of Pamela Hannah of Churchville.


Navy Constructionman Recruit James D. Johnson, son of Mary T. and James J. Johnson of North Chili, completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.

Johnson is a 12005 graduate of Gates Chili High School.


Marine Corps Private First Class Nathanael R. Herzog, son of Cheryl Bates of Brockport and James L. Herzog of Holley, graduated from the Bulk Fuel Specialist Course and was promoted to his current rank. During the course at the U.S. Army Quarter Master School, Fort Lee, Virginia, students received instructions on the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of fuel handling units and accessory equipment.

Herzog is a 2006 graduate of Holley Central High School and joined the Marine Corps in February 2007.
