Spencerport Musicians selected for All-State festivals

The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) has chosen three Spencerport High School musicians to All-State performing groups. Each year more than six thousand students participate in solo festivals held throughout New York. As a result of the outstanding scores received on their audition at last spring's solo festival, these students are now recognized as being among the finest musicians in New York and have been given the opportunity to rehearse and perform with their All-State ensemble under the baton of one of the nation's finest conductors.

Michelle Gerringer will play French Horn in the All-State Wind Ensemble conducted by Dr. Peter Boonshaft of Hofstra University. She is a senior and a student of John Viavattine and Ben Osborne.

Junior Trisha Cockey will sing soprano in the All-State Chorus conducted by Aimee Beckmann-Collier of Drake University. She is a student of Alan Jones.

Brittany Walker, a senior, will perform as a soprano in the 24-voice All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble directed by David Cross of the University of Washington. She is also a student of Alan Jones.

The rehearsals and performances occur in conjunction with the NYSSMA Winter Conference to be held in Rochester November 29 through December 2. The All-State ensembles will perform in the Eastman Theater throughout the conference.
