Life Solutions hosts fundraising event

Life Solutions will host a fundraiser as a way to gather money toward the eventual construction of a new facility for its food pantry. Formerly known as the Bread and Thread, Life Solutions served more than 25,000 meals to those in need in the Hamlin-Clarkson area, Retha Tyo, committee member for the building project said.

"We have a location in mind and are working with a local church for a donation of the land to build a new home for Life Solutions," she said.

In addition to supplying food, the Life Solutions program can help with a job search and mortgage payments. It is currently housed in the Methodist Church in Hamlin. "We have outgrown our current location," she said.

On October 20, the community is invited to the Hamlin VFW, 1739 Lake Road from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a fundraising event that will feature bounce houses, face painting and activities for the children, prizes, giveaways and a silent auction for the adults. "We're asking people to bring non perishable food for the food pantry and cash donations are always welcome," she said.
