Rangers in scoreless tie

For 11 seniors, it would be their final regular season game at home as Spencerport battled Webster-Schroeder to a 0-0 tie after 100 minutes of play in girl's varsity soccer.

Following a scoreless first half - kept that way when Brittany Kinmond's shot was tipped over the crossbar by the Warriors goalkeeper - both teams exchanged offensive pressure in the second half.

In the 58th minute, a Schroeder shot sailed over the top of the net. The Rangers returned fire one minute later with a chance that went high off the foot of Abby Blakely.

The Warriors had two more chances in the 62nd and 66th minutes which were both stopped by senior goalkeeper Sara Alessi.

After Kinmond was tripped in the box with seven minutes remaining in regulation without a whistle, Schroeder had a shot from Andrea Rallo go wide before Alessi stopped Lauren Frank on a breakaway with just 3:30 left.

Spencerport had the better play in the first overtime session with Kinmond and Katie Balcerack having their chances stopped just one minute apart.

With just two minutes remaining in the second extra period, Alessi again foiled a Warrior scoring chance by Frank after an initial shot off the post - her 12th save of the game.

The Rangers had one last effort in the final 10 seconds when Kaitlyn Chatt fed a cross to Melanie Waldow whose shot was knocked wide of the post.

Seniors for the Rangers in the final home contest were Alessi, Gina DeBellis, Erin O'Brien, Ashley Schreiner, Blakely, Kara Farnsworth, Gabby DeStefano, Balcerack, Laura Inzana, Nora Venezky and Brittany Sheffet.
