Spencerport varsity hockey coach chosen

Spencerport Central School named Craig Charron as the Rangers new varsity hockey coach. Charron is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts - Lowell where he played Division I Hockey. He was a 1988 draft choice of the Montreal Canadians and played professional hockey for 11 years, including five seasons with the Rochester Americans. While with the Amerks, Charron was named to the American Hockey All Star Team three times and received numerous awards for community service, sportsmanship and also received the Most Popular Player Award twice. In 1995 and 1998 Charron was a member of Team USA that competed in the World Champions games in Sweden and Austria. Charron was named as the coach of the 2007 Rochester High School Hockey All Stars for the Bowman Cup.

He lives in Spencerport and has been involved with Rochester Youth Hockey as an instructor, coach and personal trainer.

Charron replaces Brian Fedele who resigned.
