Roberts Wesleyan College hosting
junior high all-state music festival

Sponsored by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), Roberts Wesleyan College will host the Junior High Area All-State Music Festival, Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3. The festival features 300 outstanding seventh, eighth and ninth grade student musicians from Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Wayne and Wyoming counties.

A festival concert will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 3 at Hale Auditorium, inside the Cultural Life Center. Open to the public. Tickets cost $3 and will be available at the door. For information, contact the college's music office at 585-594-6320.

Participating student musicians were chosen based on applications, teacher recommendations and on their performances during NYSSMA solo evaluations held last spring. The performers, who were chosen from among 600 candidates, represent 43 school districts.

Roberts Wesleyan College's new choral director and Gates resident, Stephen Caracciolo, will direct the Jr. High Area All-State Chorus. The Jr. High Area All-State Band will be under the direction of Roberts Wesleyan conductor, Dr. Paul Shewan.
