Dr. Marijo Pearson

BOCES 2 chooses
instructional leader

Dr. Marijo Pearson has been named the BOCES 2 Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development, replacing Dr. Pam Kissel, who became the Superintendent of Schools for the Churchville-Chili Central School District.

Pearson served BOCES 2 as a special education supervisor for two years. She lives in Greece with her husband, Tim, and daughters, Hannah and MacKenzie.

Her position, which begins November 13, oversees the curriculum, instruction and professional development department, the elementary science program, reading recovery, SETRC, BETAC and Project Lead the Way. She will serve as BOCES liaison with the State Education Department on instructional issues, and will facilitate monthly meetings with assistant superintendents for instruction within the BOCES 2 nine-district region.

BOCES 2 District Superintendent Dr. Michael O'Laughlin said, "Dr. Pearson has demonstrated a student-centered focus her entire professional career. Her research at the University of Rochester explored how the standards movement and the resulting high stakes testing influences the development of curriculum and teaching, which ultimately affects students."
