Resident becomes international exchange coordinator

Sharon Van Ornum has been appointed as the new local representative for EF Foundation for Foreign Study. As the International Exchange Coordinator for the Rochester area, she will facilitate opportunities for local families and schools to host talented, motivated high school students from nearly 40 countries wishing to experience life in America for a semester or a year.

Van Ornum is seeking families to host high school exchange students in New York. Host families provide room, board and a caring environment. "Building personal bonds of love and trust across borders - which you do when you offer your home and support to a teenager from another country - can do a lot towards establishing positive relationships between the United States and other countries," Van Ornum said. "In addition, having an exchange student at a local high school benefits our kids, and the whole community feels more global just by having them here."
