Students learn about the Civil War

Eighth grade social studies classes at Byron-Bergen Middle School visited the Heritage Square Museum in Ontario, New York to participate in a Civil War Day learning experience. The objective of the field trip was for students to experience hands on what they have learned in class about the Civil War. Re-enactors from Cushing's Battery, a Civil War group based in Hilton, educated the students about different aspects of life during the Civil War era. Students learned, from experts in infantry, cannon artillery, abolitionist re-enactor Harriet Beecher Stowe and a nationally renowned Abraham Lincoln re-enactor.
