winner chosen

The Brockport Lions Club sponsored a "Peace Poster Contest" at the Brockport A.D. Oliver Middle School this September. The theme set by Lions International was, "Peace around the World."

Art teacher Tim O'Connell worked with the incoming sixth grade class and 121 children entered the contest. The art department selected 15 posters and members of the Brockport Lions Club chose a winner. The Lions Club provided $5 gift cards to each of the 15 finalists.

The poster selected as the winner was designed and completed by Shannon Allen. She and her parents were invited to a dinner meeting by the Brockport Lions Club and in recognition of her award she was given a $25 gift card, a Lions Club pen and a Lions Club pin. Her winning poster will be entered at the District level and then on to the New York state level. Her quote for the poster was, "I hope that everyone could be friends and there would be no more wars."
