Veterans' education scholarship launched at GCC

As Americans recognize the contributions of servicemen and women in the coming week with Veterans' Day, Genesee Community College is introducing a new Veterans' Education Scholarship designed to promote higher education with our nation's veterans. The new program is spearheaded by Dr. Roger Triftshauser, Rear Admiral, Naval Reserve Dental Corps (retired), a well-known public servant and local orthodontist. "The scholarship is our way of thanking veterans for their dedicated service, while ensuring that deserving men and women have the opportunity to undertake a quality college education," Triftshauser said. "Our goal is to raise $10,000."

The new Veterans' Education Scholarship will augment federal veteran benefits, helping veterans return to college to obtain vital career training. The new scholarship fund is earmarked specifically for veterans; it will provide financial assistance to veterans enrolled at Genesee Community College.
