AREA

•Driver, William B. Lt. Colonel (Retired) USAF, age 80, of Eliot, Maine and North Fort Myers, Florida died on February 11, 2009 in North Fort Myers. The son of Anna L. (Langrell) and Benjamin Driver, he was born on May 20, 1928 in Rochester, NY. He attended a one room school house in Parma, NY, earned his private pilot’s license by age 16, and graduated from Spencer-port High School and Rochester Business Institute. In later years, he graduated from Husson College, The USAF Command and Staff College and he earned a MBA from George Washington University. In 1948 he entered the United States Air Force Pilot Training Class of ‘49- B, became a USAF officer and aircraft pilot. He held many air operations and senior staff positions. Lt. Col. Driver was a combat pilot veteran of the "Cold War" and the Korea and Vietnam incidents. He accumu-lated nearly 8,000 pilot flight hours in 24 years of mili-tary flight operations and was awarded the Distin-guished Flying Cross. In 1974 he joined the faculty of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst teaching federal, state, and local government officials in emer-gency management subjects. He was associated with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and it’s predecessor agencies. Lt. Colonel Driver is sur-vived by his wife of 60 years, Jeannette M. (Smith); his children, William D. (Christina), John (Rhonda), James (Beverly), Dorinda (Stephen) Doyle and Cynthia (Dr. Haskell) Kingston; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Anna E. (Louis) Howie of Can-yon Lake, Texas; and cousins in Iceland, England and New Zealand.

A Memorial Service for Lt. Colonel Driver will be held at the 1st Congregational Church UCC, 155 State Road, Eliot, Maine 03903 on March 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. Dona-tions can be given to the building fund of the above named church in his memory. Burial with full military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery in May.


•Rhodes Grace A., (Petit) (Fritz), of Rochester Feb-ruary 23, 2009 at age 83. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Thomas E. Rhodes. She is survived by her son William (Connie) Petit of Spencerport; her grandchildren Katherine Petit, Robert Petit and Peter (Felicia) Provenzano; many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.


•Vigaretti, Duffy, of Pittsford: Beloved father, hus-band, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Died on February 15, 2009, at age 97. He was a resident of The Highlands Living Center, Pittsford. Pre-deceased by his wife of 71 years, Florence. Survived by his daughter, Julia (Jeff) Hahn; grandsons, Eric (Kristin Mytych) and Stephen; great-grandchildren, Austin, An-drew and Sylvia; sister-in-law, Jill Messerino; two nieces and a nephew.

ALBION

•Hartman, Florence N. (Moore), Age 82, died Feb-ruary 17, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 51 years Ray Hartman; sisters Evelyn Burch of Spencer-port, Lillian (Richard) Cowham of Bergen, Clara Kubera of Dunkirk; brother James (Marian) Moore of Hulberton; sister-in-law Arlene Moore of Clarendon; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Louis Moore.

A Memorial Service was held February 28 at King-dom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Albion. Contributions can be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Albion Congregation in her memory.


BROCKPORT

•Bo, Elizabeth Lee "Betty," in Largo, Florida, Febru-ary 14, 2009. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Howard A. Bo and adored daughter, Dawn Kristi. Sur-vived by her devoted son Howie; daughter Lesa; sister Bonnie Hunzinger; brother Ricky (Karen) Spurr; granddaughters Maya and Briana Bo; grandson Joe Heintz; great grandchildren Cassie, Josh and A.J. Heintz; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and loving friends.

A Celebration of her life was held in Belleair Beach, Florida on February 15, and a Memorial Service and celebration will take place in Brockport in August 2009. Donations can be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Main Street, Brockport 14420 in her memory.


•Donahue, Anna May, On February 23, 2009 at the age of 87. Predeceased by her husband Bill and grand-sons Michael Nolte and Paul Weaver II. She is survived by her darling children Jim (Vickie), Anne (Paul) Weaver, Patrick (Teresa); daughter-in-law Mary Dona-hue; seven grandchildren James Nolte, Joe (Christie), Mark, Scott (Ellen), Jamie, Katie and Kelly Donahue; great grandchildren Crystal Anne, Michael and Paige Nolte, Joshua, Kylie, Elsie and Joseph Donahue, Rian and Camryn Donahue, Patrick and Juliana Mae Dona-hue; cousins Bernie (Josephine) Kline; best friends Helen Weitzel and Irene Manitsas. She was a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

A Funeral Mass was said February 27 at the Church of the Nativity of the BVM, Brockport. Interment will be at Lake View Cemetery. Contributions can be made to a Veteran’s Hospital of one’s choice in her memory.


CLARKSON

•Dilcher, Dr. Ronald C., On February 13, 2009. Pro-fessor Emeritus at SUNY Brockport 1957-1995, Biologi-cal Sciences Department. National Science Foundation projects included teaching colleges and schools faculty the methods and approaches in environmental educa-tion, emphasizing direct field experience. NSF and Army Corps of Engineers environmental research projects included Buffalo River, Cape Vincent, Yantee Creek, Oak Orchard wildlife area, Genesee River, Irondequoit Bay, and the Webster, NY shoreline. Dr. Dilcher was a U.S. Army veteran. Loved by his wife, Jane D. Dilcher, and his family. He is survived by daughters, Elizabeth A. Dilcher and Carolyn D. Stutz; grandchildren, Kathryn E. Naum, Laura D. Naum and Sean P. Stutz.

A Memorial Service was held February 27 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Brockport. Donations can be made to the Bergen Swamp Preservation Society in his memory.


HILTON

•Burton, Dewey Richard, Suddenly, February 24, 2009, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, age 51. Predeceased by his father, Dewey Burton, brothers David and Mark Burton, and sister, Donna. Survived by his beloved mother, Urbanie "Bunny" Burton; brothers and sisters, Janet Louk (George Hayes), Danny (Anita) Burton, Susan (Al) Bonin, Jeanne (Peter) Mirabito, Stephen (Ginger) Burton, Lisa (Jonathan) Harvey; sister-in-law, Jane Burton and brother-in-law, Pai Lotomau; his God-sons Joseph Burton and Burton Lotomau; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.

HOLLEY

•Assennato, Evelyn Louise (Walker), died February 19, 2009. She is survived by sisters Esther Nadine Ger-ber and Judith Lenore Parsley; sons Robert Joseph Asento and Ronald Louis Asento; grandsons Robert and Brian Asento; and granddaughter Christine Asento. She was predeceased by husband Louise Joseph; son Mi-chael Shade; brothers Shade Charles and Oscar Rudolph; and sister June Elizabeth. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Louis, in 2008.

Services were held February 28 at Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Holley. Interment will be scheduled in the springtime. Contributions can be made to Hilde-brandt Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester 14626 in her memory.

•Bell, Florence R. (Lockner), Suddenly, February 20, 2009. She was predeceased by her first husband, Everett Lockner, son Paul Lockner and brother John Gibbs. Survived by her loving husband, Arthur J. Bell whom she called her "Guardian Angel;" her sons, Ronald (Faye) and Andrew (Kelly) Lockner of Colorado; daughters, Martha (David) Houk and Laura Johnson; step-children Dale, Art (Mary), Gary (Joan), Lloyd (Cheryl), Ken (Joanne), Doug (Jeannie), Jeff (Tracey) Bell, Connie (Gary) Clymo, Donna (Red) Fedele, Audrey (Paul) Woodcock and Melody Bell; brother, Floyd Gibbs; daughters-in-law Mary Lockner and Carol Bell; step-brother, Doug (Sue) Bryant; sister-in-law, Bernie Gibbs; 48 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. Florence was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hilton VFW Ladies Auxil-iary, and former member of North Greece Fire Depart-ment Ladies Auxiliary.

•Kepler, Harold L., February 6, 2009 at age 87. He was predeceased by his son Daniel. He is survived by his caring and loving wife of 60 years Arline R. (Heeg) Ke-pler; his daughter Victoria (Fred) Parlato; his sons Kevin (Barbara) Kepler of Mesa, Arizona and Lance (Melanie) Kepler; his brothers Fred Kepler of Sodus, Donald (Doris) Kepler and Victor (Elaine) Kepler; daughter-in-law Donna Kepler; nine grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. Harold was former owner of Spencerport Well Drilling Co.

A Celebration of his Life was held February 28 at the Brockport Free Methodist Church, Brockport. Contribu-tions can be made to the Spencerport Volunteer Ambu-lance or to the Open Door Mission, 156 North Plymouth Avenue, Rochester, NY 14608 in his memory.


•Laird, James, February 23, 2009 at age 87. He is sur-vived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Laird; daughters, Eileen (Mike) Reynell, and Marie (Steve) Craine of Florida; grandchildren, Patrick (Carrie) Rey-nell of North Carolina and Matthew (Jaime Burgos) Reynell, Ryan (Cathy) Craine, Jaime (Joseph) Showers, Timothy (Dahlia) Craine and Andrew Craine all of Flor-ida; sister-in-law, Eliza Howell of Ireland; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Jim was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Co. after 31 years of service and a British Navy Veteran and POW of WWII.

•Lughart, Weitzo Jan "Dutch," February 20, 2009 at the age of 79. He is predeceased by his wife, Joyce and daughter Janet Lughart. Also his parents, Albertus and Vera; brothers, Ronnie, Earl and John "Bun." He is sur-vived by his children, Dr. Carol Lughart (Steve Brown) of Illinois, Jean (David) Montgomery and John (Julie) Lughart; grandchildren, Andrew, Kevin and Jordyn; sisters and brother, Sarah, Vera, Greta, Phyllis, Richard and families; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dutch was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Ferris-Goodridge American Le-gion Post #330 and other fraternal organizations.

A Memorial Service was held February 24 at Spencerport United Methodist Church. Private inter-ment. Contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospi-tals for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, Pennsylva-nia 16505 in his memory.


•Stasiw, Fedor "Frank," age 83, died February 19, 2009. He was an active member of the Holy Name Soci-ety at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; son, Stephen Fedor (Sharon) Stasiw of Churchville; daughter, Katherine Pauline (David) Miller of Spencerport; six grandchil-dren, Kris (Amy), J.J., Brent and Ken Stasiw; Lescia and Austin Miller; his sisters-in-law, Angela Popowich of Rochester, Joan Popowich of Rochester and Ruth Popowich of Spencerport; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Fedor Sta-siw, Sr., mother Eva Stasiw, brother Vsyil Stasiw and sister, Parania (Stasiw) Duh in Ukraine. Frank was born on November 11, 1925, in Kropevnik, Ukraine. In 1941, due to the war, he was forced to leave his homeland of Ukraine. Years following, he worked in Germany. In 1949, he was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. George Record (deceased) and his aunt, Mrs. Mary Kuzmik, (deceased) and came to live in Rochester, NY where he lived with his aunt and cousins Leo and Eva. In 1950 he married Pauline (Popowich) and for over 59 years resided in Spencerport. Frank was a corporal in the US Army and a veteran of the Korean War. He was an active member of American Legion Post 330 in Spencerport. Mr. Stasiw worked at Eastman Kodak Company and retired after 33 years of service in 1986.

A Funeral Mass was held February 23 at St. Jos-phat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 940 East Ridge Road, Rochester, NY 14621. Interment Parma-Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 940 East Ridge Road, Roch-ester 14621 in his memory.
