BROCKPORT
Knab, Clarence S., On August 11, 2008. Predeceased by his granddaughter Kathleen Smith. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Kathryn; his children, Rosemary (Roger) Smith, Dale (Sandra) Knab, Joyce (Charles) Truscott; two grandsons Scott (Kelly) and Kevin (Jackie) Smith; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held August 15 at the Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., Brockport. Interment at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the Brockport Ambulance Corps or the First Baptist Church of Brockport in his memory.
Rogers, Frances E., in Fayette, Michigan; age 93, native of Brockport, died August 8, 2008. Predeceased by her husband, Donald in 1983. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Brockport and the Order of the Eastern Star. Frances is survived by her daughters, Patte (Paul) Comstock of Houston, Texas and Donna (Fred) Winters of Fayette, Michigan; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and her sister, Florence Koehler of Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Brockport, at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made to the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Capital Campaign, Att: Communications Office, 500 Main Street, Manistique, Michigan 49854 in her memory.
CHURCHVILLE
Cason, Waltraud "Trudy," August 8, 2008. Predeceased by her husband, Wilbur. Survived by daughter, Cheryl (Larry) Stackman and daughter-in-law, Lauri Cason.

GATES
Lewis, Curtis Leon, July 18, 2008 at age 71. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Lewis and his brother, Robert Lewis. He is survived by his children Craig "Rusty" (Debi) Lewis, Terry (Vincent) Modafferi, Wendy (Gary) Wicks, Brenda (Francis) Maier and Brian (Karen) Lewis; grandchildren, Justin, Andrea, Stephanie, Daniel, Janelle, Stacy and Stephen; brother Charles (Diana); sister, Rebecca (Wayne); niece, Lindsey (Timothy). Curtis was the founder of the TBS Fellowship, a former Building Inspector for the RCSD and a charter member of the New Breed Motorcycle Club.

HAMLIN
Ballard, Ronald E., August 6, 2008 at age 75, formerly of Spencerport. Predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Habeck) Ballard. He is survived by his daughters Deborah (Richard) Goodwin of Hamlin and Lynn M. Ballard; grandsons Christopher and William Pero; great-grandchildren Jacob, Skylar and Jayden Pero, Giordan Pero; granddaughter-in-law Lindsey Pero; several nieces and nephews. He was a retiree of Stromberg Carlson and Eastman Kodak Co., was a past member of the Hamlin Conservation Board and the Genesee West Audubon Society. He was a graduate of Clarkson University and an avid bird watcher.

HILTON
Ashline, Ruth E., August 6, 2008, age 88. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Ashline. Survived by her children, Richard Ashline and Karen (Roger) Sadowski; five grandchildren Kristine (Dan) Pieniaszek, R. Daniel Sadowski, Gregory (Veronica), Jennifer, Christopher (Kelly) Ashline; great-grandsons, Austin and Peter; her sister Joyce (Ernest) LaVoie; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Nordhausen, Emma (Lindhorst), August 9, 2008, at age 92. Born in Germany, Emma came to America in 1953 and lived in Chicago until 1988, when she moved to Hilton. She is predeceased by her husband, Herman. Survived by her son, Erwin (Joanne) Nordhausen; grandchildren, Julie (Scott) Maginn and Matthew (Jessica) Nordhausen.
Funeral Services were held August 12 at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, Greece. Private interment, Parma Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hilton or Hope Lutheran Church, Greece in her memory.
Schwenk, Franz J., July 20, 2008 in Garden City, New York The beloved husband of the late Erica T. Schwenk and father of the late Mitzi Schwenk and Kurt Schwenk. A loving father of son, Eric (Virginia) Schwenk; daughter, Heidi (Dan) Harden; grandchildren, Maximillian, Schwenk, Walker Harden and Conner Harden; brother of Andreas (Marion) Schwenk; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian Rowell, Frederick (Joan) Taube, Marion (Martin) Vertson and Roger Taube; several nieces and nephews. Franz is a WWII Veteran of the US Navy's USS Wyoming and USS Guam from 1944 to 1946; was a Senior Architect with the Eastman Kodak Company; an avid sailor, gardener and painter.
A Graveside Service was held August 10 at Parma Union Cemetery, Hilton. Donations can be made to a charity of choice, to Lifetime Care Home Health and Hospice or St. Joseph's Villa of Rochester in his memory.
Slater, Anna W. (Callahan Family), On August 8, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth G. Slater, 2001. She is survived by her brother Walter (Thea) Wolf; son Gregory (Shirley) Slater; daughter Laurie (Mark) Callahan; grandchildren Ryan (Deanne) and Jeffrey Slater, Zachary and Megan Callahan; great-grandchildren Brett, Vanessa and Avery. Also survived by her devoted sister-in-law Janet Roe and special brother-in-law Eugene Zilinski; many nieces, nephews, close friends and her beloved cat "Sammy." Anna was a longtime resident of Hilton, member of Hilton Baptist Church and a retiree of Hilton Central School.

HOLLEY
Assennato, Louis Joseph, On August 8, 2008, with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Louise; sons, Robert Joseph Asento and Ronald Louis Asento; grandsons Robert and Brian Asento; granddaughter Christine Asento and sister-in-law Victoria Asenato. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by son Michael Shade; brothers Tom and Frank Asenato; and sisters Josephine (Sally) Palumbo and Theresa Rivoli. Louis was born October 12, 1920 and raised in Rochester. At the age of 18 he entered the armed forces, where he served in Panama and Germany. In 1944, while stationed in Georgia, he met and married Louise. In 1945, after more than five years of military service, they settled in Rochester where they raised three sons. In 1960, he moved his family to Holley, where he became a "gentleman farmer." He was employed at Kodak for 33 years, retiring in 1980. Hobbies included hunting, fishing, lapidary and traveling.
Funeral Services were held August 16 at Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Holley. Interment, Hillside Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester 14626 in his memory.
SPENCERPORT
Howie, Robert J., Suddenly August 6, 2008 at age 64. He is predeceased by his parents, Kathleen and Glenn. He is survived by his wife, Terry; son, William Howie; step-sons Brian Zona (fiancee Megan), Christopher Zona; brother, Edward "Ted" (Maryann) Howie; sister, Dianne; grandchildren, Mikayla, Dominic and Joseph; several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Bob was retired from RIT and currently working for VanBortel and Hoselton.
Funeral Services were held August 11 at New Comer Funeral Home, Greece. Interment, Creekside Cemetery, Churchville. Contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice in his memory.
