Spencerport Jubilee to close

Last fall, the Fleming Company, owner of the Spencerport Jubilee, announced it would be closing its Buffalo warehouse and selling its retail stores (30-plus) in the western New York market. The Buffalo warehouse also served other independent food retailers, and when it did close in the spring, the Fleming stores and independent retailers began being serviced by Fleming’s Ohio warehouse.

At press time, the Spencerport Jubilee had not been sold and was tentatively scheduled to be closed by November 18. Mike Ward, owner of several grocery markets in the area, said he has attempted to purchase the Spencerport store, "but so far hasn’t been able to work out a deal that makes sense".
