Youth return from mission trip ready to serve Ogden's seniors
Fifteen teens and adults from the Spencerport and Elmgrove United Methodist Churches spent a week last August working to repair homes with the Appalachia Service Project. Assigned to Morgan County, Tennessee, the group stayed at a community center with youth from other states and set off each day to the worksites. Evenings were spent learning more about poverty and the way it affects people's lives. Building hope through building relationships was the focus of the ministry.
Upon their return home, the group was challenged to find a way to serve their own community. Using one of the teen's senior integrated project as a starting point, they have decided to Serve Ogden's Seniors by making themselves available for simple home repairs and yard work. Under the leadership of an experienced adult, they will bring hope and help to those in need in Ogden. Contact can be made through Rev. Lloyd of the White Church (352-3448) and Rev. Griswold of the United Methodist Church (352-3114) to arrange for their services.
