Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES recognized in statewide publications contest
On October 20, the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) honored the winners of its 21st annual communications contest at a luncheon in Rochester.
Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Communications Specialist Mary Kay Glazer, of Rochester, received an Award of Honor for the Churchville-Chili Central School District newsletter, Partners, and Awards of Merit for her feature articles "Good Chemistry" and "Making Musicians," also for Churchville-Chili. Communications Specialist Jackie Finn, of Chili, received an Award of Honor for her photograph "Nature Trail," which appeared with a press release for Churchville-Chili. And former Communications Specialist Tami Bacon, of Henrietta, received Awards of Honor for the Churchville-Chili brochure, "We Shape the Future;" the Brockport Central School District brochure; and the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Annual Report/State Report Card.
Over 700 entries were received from schools across New York state for this year's contest and just over one-third were award winners. The New Jersey School Public Relations Association judged the majority of entries. "The judging was very competitive," noted contest coordinator Nori Gartner-Baca. "Winners should feel especially proud to know that their submissions earned awards from their professional peers."
Additional judges included The Times Herald Record, The Daily Freeman, Ellenbogen Group, Inc., and Tri-State Associated Services.
