Hilton AP scholars named by College Board
Nineteen Hilton High School students have been named Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level AP Examinations. The Hilton AP Scholars with Distinction (earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams and grades of 3 or better on five or more of the exams) are June 2000 graduates: Danielle Crumb, Allison Giordano, Lindsey Karpowich, Denise Mahns, Rebecca Mesh, Cara Palumbo, David Zai. The Hilton AP Scholars (completing three or more AP exams with grades of 3 or higher) are June 2000 graduates: Jennifer America, Michael Chojnowski, Jennifer Demunck, Jeffrey Fose, Zachary Johnson, Carolyn Ramzy, Mark Trimmer, Karissa Wood and present seniors Caitlin Bower, Darren Lipomi, Elaine Loggi and Anne Marino.
AP Examinations are taken in May after completing challenging college-level courses and are graded on a five-point scale (five is the highest). Most of the nation's colleges and universities award credit, advanced placement, or both for grades of 3 or higher. Hilton students earning these awards represent 13 percent of the more than 700,000 students who took AP exams in May 2000. Hilton High School offers AP exams in: American History, European History, Economics, Government and Politics, Biology, Calculus English, Chemistry and Physics.
