County adds follow up to parent workshop
A new Not Me, Not Now Part II Parent Workshop will serve as a follow up to the Part I Parent Workshops. The Part I sessions help parents develop parent-child communication skills, solve conflicts, and learn how and when to talk to children about sex. The Part II sessions discuss the importance of family values. Both sessions are free and are part of a Monroe County effort to help parents talk to their children about sexual issues. Dennis Boike, Ph.D. of Boike Counseling and Cookie Waller of Prevention Partners, facilitate the workshops starting at 7 p.m. A Part I workshop will be held Monday, November 27 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3474 Brick Schoolhouse Road, Hamlin.
Part II workshops also begin at 7 p.m. and will take place Monday, December 4 at Chili Community Center, 4400 Buffalo Road and Tuesday, December 12 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3474 Brick Schoolhouse Road, Hamlin.
Not Me, Not Now is a teen pregnancy prevention program designed to encourage kids, ages 9 to 14, to delay sexual activity.
